Usability
It does not matter how good the search engine optimisation or search engine marketing of a website is, if the website does not ‘work’ then everything else is a waste of time. If customers cannot figure out how to contact you or how to add products to their shopping cart, then your site has a usability problem.
To get an insight into how your potential customers interact with your website, grab someone random off the street and stick them in front of your website and watch. We are being serious. This is what we do with our new designs and it always brings unexpected results. It is invaluable.
Steve Krug wrote a book about webdesign called Don’t Make Me Think. He wrote that if the customer has to think about how to do something on a website, then something is wrong with the website.
